20th ISB BGIC Press Conference

Thursday, 24th October 2024 – The 20th International School Brunei Borneo Global Issues Conference (ISB BGIC), is focused on the fourth Sustainable Development Goal: Quality Education and involves nearly 250 delegates from 23 schools – 21 from Brunei Darussalam and 2 from overseas. Hosted by ISB with conference partners the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education, the 20th ISB BGIC will be taking place from 24th-27th October.

To initiate the event, ISB hosted a press conference today at the ISB campus in Kampong Sungai Hanching, introducing this year’s keynote speakers: Hon. Dr Stuart Lawrence and Ms. Linda Cruse.
An award-winning motivational and public speaker, Hon. Dr Stuart Lawrence, younger brother of Stephen Lawrence, is a teacher, orator, author and consultant, all for a single purpose: to give young people and adults alike the mindset and skills to achieve their potential, irrespective of background, and in turn become the voices that change society.

Ms. Linda Cruse is the Founder of Race4Good. She is a humanitarian aid worker, author, and speaker committed to aiding disaster-affected communities globally. Renowned for her inventive disaster relief methods, she prioritises empowering locals for sustainable rebuilding. Through her writings and speeches, Linda imparts her experiences to motivate others toward impactful action.

Officials representing two of the sponsors, Dk Rodzi Pg Abdul Rahman, Head of Strategic Relationship Management at Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam, and Amir Hamzah bin POKPSDP Hj Abdul Rahman, HSE Manager at Brunei LNG Sdn Bhd, were present to speak at the press conference on behalf of their companies.

Also present as panellists at the press conference were Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO at ISB and ISB BGIC Secretaries-General Francisca Vega and Zara Jeffri, with fellow ISB BGIC Secretary-General Emilka Lim as emcee.

The press conference also saw the attendance of Ms. Vienna Law, General Manager of ISB, Ms. Ai Ling Wong, Deputy Head of ISB Secondary, ISB BGIC organisers Mr. David Glantz and Ms. Rowena Miles, ISB BGIC committee chairs, and ISB staff.
