Blackhawk helicopter landing to celebrate ISB’s 60th anniversary

Tuesday, 11th June 2024 – In conjunction with International School Brunei’s (ISB) 60th anniversary celebrations, a helicopter landing event was held this morning at the school’s Bandar campus.

The event saw a Blackhawk S70i helicopter from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) land at the school’s sports field. Upon the helicopter’s landing, ISB staff planted a banner on the ground showcasing the school’s 60th anniversary logo, after which ISB Secondary students and staff proceeded to form the number 60 on the field to mark the significant occasion.

ISB Primary and Secondary students were then given the opportunity to view the helicopter up close on the field where 21 Royal Brunei Air Force personnel, led by Pilot Cpt (U) Ak Adri Firdaus bin Pg Hj Rakawi and Coordinating Officer Lt (U) Nur Hazwanie binti Asmad, shared insights on the aircraft’s various features and functions.

Mr. Dominic Morley, Executive Principal and CEO of ISB, and Ms. Vienna Law, General Manager of ISB, then presented tokens of appreciation to the MINDEF.

With 2024 being ISB’s 60th anniversary year, today’s helicopter landing event was held with the aim of further enlivening the celebrations with memorable highlights, while also providing students with a thrilling and educational experience. ISB would like to extend its warmest appreciation to the Ministry of Defence for making this meaningful event possible.

Today’s event is also reminiscent of the helicopter landing that took place at ISB’s previous campus in Berakas 10 years ago on 11th June 2014.
